Youth Programs

thumb_bagclubThe youth writing and publishing project was formed to help develop children’s reading and writing skills while increasing their self confidence and sense of identity.

The programs are collaborations with other organizations, such as Boys & Girls Clubs, county libraries, youth correctional facilities, and public schools.

Guided by professional writers, editors, and teachers, the participants attend weekly meetings where they write and, in some cases, illustrate stories. At each session, they share what they have written. The young authors work with a professional editor to complete their final draft.

A book is then published of each group’s stories, with each participant receiving a copy. Proceeds from the sale of the books go into the development of more youth programs.
