To promote literacy, the art of writing, the joy of reading, and the value of the written word.

We pursue these goals through the following projects.

• The production of an annual Ventura Book Festival, which provides an outlet for authors, book dealers, publishers, and others to display and sell their works and/or promote their books, companies, and organizations.
• Ongoing seminars and workshops for writers of all ages. These are held in several venues, including book stores and libraries. CLAS members are notified by email of upcoming events.
• Writing programs for youth, which includes the publication of their works through CLAS Publishing. The programs are in collaboration with libraries, public schools, Juvenile Hall, and Boys & Girls Clubs, and are held in their facilities.
